Katy Elementary Schools Named Best in Houston Area
Finding a home in a good school district is often a top priority for Houston home buyers! Fortunately, there are a number of resources to help you research school quality in the Houston area. One such resource is the website Niche, which recently produced the 2018 list of Best Public Elementary Schools in the Houston Metro Area. The Houston Business Journal summarized the findings, and we’ll share highlights here, along with more information!
First, it’s worth remembering that there are many school ranking sites and methodologies. In addition to Niche, you can research school ratings on GreatSchools.org. For information about high schools and colleges, you can refer to U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings. There are also sites like WalletHub that periodically issue educational rankings by state and city.
Additionally, the Texas Education Agency has a searchable Accountability Rating System that allows you to look up the performance of school districts statewide. You can also check the U.S. Department of Education’s national list of Blue Ribbon Schools, which is updated annually to recognize public and private schools for academic excellence.
It’s possible for schools to go on and off these lists, depending on the methodologies applied, and student performance during a particular year. For example, Niche rated Houston area public elementary schools based on student test scores, as well as student-to-teacher ratios, teacher quality, student diversity, overall school and district quality, plus surveys from parents and students. Katy elementary schools placed highest, with the top five listed as follows:
