The scenic communities of Wilchester and Wilchester West are nestled in a wooded area immediately south of Katy Freeway, and north of Buffalo Bayou and Terry Hershey Park. They are bordered to the east by Wilcrest Drive, and to the west by Patchester Drive. During development, care was taken to preserve mature oaks and hardwoods, which give the Westchester neighborhoods natural beauty and serenity.

These neighborhoods are sought-after by Houston home buyers for their convenient location to shopping, dining and recreation, as well as good public schools and proximity to the Houston Energy Corridor. Due to the strong pride of ownership and quality of amenities, the Wilchester neighborhoods maintain stable home values, even during widespread real estate declines.

Each Wilchester neighborhood has its own homeowner’s association that is responsible for deed compliance, architectural control, security, trash and recycling collection, and maintenance of community amenities. Homeowners in Wilchester and Wilchester West are all members of the Wilchester Club, which provides a variety of recreational and social opportunities to residents.

The Wilchester Club operates three pools for the enjoyment of members, including a competition pool with a 1-meter diving well, a rock pool, and a baby pool. The larger pools each have a water slide. Residents aged 4 to 18 can join the competitive youth swim team, the Wilchester Wahoos.

The Wilchester Club also manages a community park with open green space and areas shaded by mature oaks. The park area includes a playground, bbq grills, picnic tables, pavillion, tennis courts, a basketball court and restroom facilities.

Recreational opportunities include competitive tennis leagues for men and women, plus mixed doubles tennis on Saturday nights. The Wilchester Women’s Club offers several social events and gatherings throughout the year.

Public education in Wilchester and Wilchester West is provided by the Spring Branch Independent School District, which has been recognized for excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Elementary age children attend either Rummel Creek Elementary School or Wilchester Elementary, before moving on to Memorial Middle School.

Public high schools include Stratford High School, which received a Silver ranking by U.S. News & World Report for academic excellence. The Westchester Academy for International Studies offers International Baccalaureate Diplomas, achieved through advanced coursework with a focus on college readiness.

Casual dining and the nearest Starbucks close is to home along the Katy Freeway frontage. More dining, shopping and services are found several blocks to the east along Memorial Drive.

Homes in the Wilchester neighborhoods are stately,  well-built, and well-maintained, surrounded by majestic trees. Home prices currently begin in the low $600’s and range over $1 million.
